Kannappa, the mythological epic starring Vishnu Manchu, experienced a significant dip at the box office on its fourth day, earning just ₹2.5 crore on its first Monday. The film, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, released on June 27 and opened to a strong start over the weekend despite mixed critical reception.
Box Office Performance So Far
According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Kannappa has now accumulated a total of ₹25.90 crore in four days. Here's a breakdown of its daily earnings:
- Day 1 (Thursday): ₹9.35 crore
- Day 2 (Friday): ₹7.15 crore
- Day 3 (Saturday): ₹6.9 crore
- Day 4 (Monday): ₹2.5 crore
The sharp Monday drop reflects a lack of upward momentum over the weekend, and marks the film’s lowest single-day earnings so far.
Piracy Hits the Film
Adding to the film’s challenges, Vishnu Manchu revealed that Kannappa has been heavily impacted by piracy. In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he stated that over 30,000 pirated links of the film have already been taken down.
“Kannappa is under attack from piracy. Over 30,000 illegal links have already been taken down. This is heartbreaking. Piracy is theft — plain and simple. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don’t encourage it. Support cinema the right way,” Vishnu urged.
Mixed Reviews and VFX Revisions
The film, which features high-profile cameos by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas, has received mixed reviews—particularly for its visual effects. At a recent press interaction, Vishnu acknowledged that he and editor Anthony made the decision to cut certain scenes due to unsatisfactory VFX.
“It’s a massive lesson for me. I’ll never repeat that mistake again. But many viewers didn’t even notice it, and the team took that positively,” he said.
